The sound of the conch, the beating of the drums and the echoes of Polynesian chants signal the start of Maui’s most exciting luau, complete with the exotic flavors of native Hawaiian cuisine. While you enjoy the taste of Hawaii, let the drums of the Pacific take you on a wonderful journey through the islands of Polynesia with an incredible show highlighting its culture.
Feast on authentic Hawaiian cuisine
After being greeted with a lei (the traditional flower wreath) and welcomed with a Mai Tai (or fruit punch for the little ones), you’re free to find seating at dining tables situated under the open sky in front of a large stage. Nearby, a pig has been roasting in a fire pit, and will become the feature of an expansive all-you-can-eat buffet. Besides the Kalua pork offered, diners will find Huli Huli chicken, freshly caught fish, a Pacific Ahi poke, Lomi Lomi salmon, traditional Poi, Polynesian rice, seasonal vegetables, Molokai purple sweet potato, creamed taro leaf with coconut milk, Taro rolls, tropical fruit, and salads.
A tiki bar provides complimentary beverages, including wine, beer, standard cocktails, Mai Tais, juices and sodas. Sweets are also provided, including chocolate macadamia nut cream brownies, Haupia with toasted coconut, pineapple cake and bread pudding.
Journey through Polynesia
Luaus are not just a part of Hawaiian culture, they’re integral to the identity of many of the islands of the south Pacific. The Drums of the Pacific Luau celebrates all of Polynesia with authentic dances and music from multiple islands, showcasing the differences between each culture and explaining how the ancient peoples use to navigate the islands in outrigger canoes. You’ll witness dances from Hawaii, Fiji, Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, Rarotonga and New Zealand in a powerful performance that begins at sunset and ends in the night with an awe-inspiring fire-dance finale. Performances are family-friendly, and children as young as 5 are welcome to attend.
